About The PopsProfessional, Free and Open to the PublicFor 58 years the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra has been the only professional orchestra in the Upper Midwest dedicated solely to presenting concerts incity parks for the public, free of charge.  Lake Harriet Band Shell Each summer the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra performs about 15 concerts under the baton of Maestro Jere Lantz at the Lake Harriet Bandshell, Nicollet Island pavilion, Elliot Park, and the University of Minnesota mall. Pops musicians can be heard in the off-season playing with the Minnesota Orchestra, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Minnesota Sinfonia, VocalEssence, and other professional ensembles.
